Here’s to a new year, and with that, a new Pantone Color of the Year.

Even the Pantone Color Institute felt the weight of 2020 on their shoulders as they selected TWO colors for the 2021 COTY. This annual announcement was especially welcomed this year as the thoughtfully selected colors represent a newfound sense of hope and optimism that we all crave as we head into 2021.

Behold PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating.

“The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit” describes Executive Director of the Panton Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman.

The COTY directly influences marketing, design, and product development trends, and the promotional product and branded apparel world is already seeing the influence of this year’s colors. Following a year unlike any other, these colors are a reminder of the brighter skies ahead, and that is something we can all appreciate.
